In case you haven’t heard the big news, yesterday was National Applesauce Cake Day. It was also the day that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the birth of their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

Lili was apparently born on Friday, June 4th at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of capable doctors and staff who will gladly tell the story of the role they played in bringing Lilibet into this world to all of their friends, family and strangers that they run into for the rest of their lives.

After the news broke, Queen Elizabeth released a statement telling people to calm down, that of course she knew about the birth and that the baby was going to be named after her and Diana, but in much nicer words.

Prince William and Kate Middleton released a statement of their own on Instagram saying they are ‘delighted by the happy news’. Though it is unclear how they settled on the word ‘delighted’, it probably went something like this:

Kate: Should we post about Lili’s birth?

William: Sure.

Kate: What do we say?

William: I don’t know… that we are ‘thrilled’ or something?

Kate: How about ‘delighted’ instead?

William: Sure, I don’t care.

Lilibet joins her big brother Archie and her three cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in a constant fight for their great granny’s love and approval. Welcome to this world, Lilibet.
