It seems like Kate Middleton—or the Duchess of Cambridge as her kids know her, will not be attending Princess Diana’s statue unveiling this coming Thursday.
Kensington Palace released a statement saying that the Duchess did not make the shortlist of people who were required to be there, but with much nicer words as skilled professionals write those statements.
Only people truly close to the late Princess Diana will be in attendance, like her two sons, her close family and members of the statute committee who did not know her nor did they marry her firstborn like Kate did. The garden designer is also invited, who coincidentally also didn’t marry Diana’s firstborn.
However, this does not mean Kate won’t be able to pay her respects. A royal source told Page Six that she and “William are planning a private family visit with their children”. The kids are so used to being present for royal events in front of the cameras and this is an opportunity to show them that ‘dull royal’ things can happen without cameras present too.
The source continued saying that, “William is determined that the Sussex drama does not overshadow this important moment,” and with this derogatory statement he makes sure Diana’s day is all about the Sussexes.
