Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes are no longer a couple. After 2 years together, they’ve decided they don’t really like each other “in that way” anymore.
In a joint statement posted to Instagram stories, the ex-couple wrote: “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.”
Their friends and family are just as upset about the news as their fans. “I understand that people break up. It happens,” said Camila’s mom. “But what is this bullsh*t that they love each other more than ever as humans?”
“If they can’t stand each other anymore, then it makes sense to break up,” said Shawn’s dad. “But you’re not supposed to break up when you love each other more than ever. THAT’S NOT HOW THIS WORKS.”
“Are they being super mature?” asked Camila’s mom to her husband. “Or are they just stupid?”
Both Camila and Shawn’s parents have started a group chat to discuss if they’ve failed as parents or if their kids are just damaged but it’s not actually their fault.
Meanwhile, Camila and Shawn have tried to explain that “that’s just something people say.”
“What were we supposed to say to strangers on the internet? said Camila to Shawn, when they heard that their parents were criticizing them. “Are we supposed to let everyone know that we just want to f*ck other people?”
