Jennifer Lopez has been in the news a lot lately, though she’s physically been filming her new movie ‘Shotgun Wedding’ in the Dominican Republic. I had the absolute pleasure to go down there to talk to the actress. Here’s everything that was discussed during our brief time together:
Bea: Thank you for doing this with me, JLo.
Jennifer: My pleasure.
Bea: Can you believe this place? This is my version of paradise…. with the white sand, the crystal clear water… I just didn’t think that I’d be sweating so profusely in “paradise”.
Jennifer: [chuckles]
Bea: This amount of sweat is unprofessional, I apologize for it… I’m out of control.
Jennifer: [laughs] That’s alright. It is really hot!
Bea: Yea… that’s why I’m sweating, Jennifer.
Jennifer: [smiles]
Bea: Anyway, how are you? I read on CNN that you and Alex Rodriguez broke up on Friday—
Jennifer: No, we—
Bea: Don’t worry… They later retracted their story and said you two are still very much unhappy together.
Jennifer: We’re not un—
Bea: It’s okay! Do not feel like you need to explain.
Jennifer: We’re not unhappy. We’re—
Bea: No, seriously. Your publicist was very clear with me that I wasn’t supposed to ask anything about Alex…
Jennifer: Then why did you bring it up?
Bea: I was just making casual conversation… sharing something I recently read on CNN…
Jennifer: We’re just working through some—
Bea: No… I was told not to ask about what you’re going through…. You need to respect that.
Jennifer: You’re not asking. Just listen!
Bea: Oh, I listened. Your publicist was very clear when she said to me: “Don’t talk about her relationship with Alex, and don’t ask about the affair… OR ELSE”.
Jennifer: There was no affair!
Bea: I don’t know that… ‘cause I can’t ask about it.
Jennifer: You don’t need to ask. I’m telling you!!
Bea: Against my will…
Jennifer: This is ridiculous.
Bea: Listen, there is nothing more in this world that I’d rather do than to talk about your personal drama… but I CAN’T.
Jennifer: But that’s what I’m trying to tell you…. There is no drama. Alex and I are fine! There is no drama!
Bea: I’m sorry… I guess we’ll never know.
Jennifer: I’m telling you right now. Alex never cheated on me with Madison LeCroy. They spoke… ON THE PHONE. ONCE.
Bea: [silence]
Jennifer: We are very much still together, still thinking of getting married once Covid is over… We had a fight on Friday, that’s all.
Bea: That’s all?
Jennifer: That is ALL.
Bea: [smiles] … And that is how it’s done when you’re not allowed to ask personal questions.
