Robert Downey Jr. was a big winner at the People’s Choice Awards, taking home the trophy for Male Movie Star 2019 for Avengers: Endgame. His acceptance speech was short but he made sure to honor really important figures like Stan Lee and his family dog, Ava.
I ran into Robert moments after and asked if he wouldn’t mind sitting with me for a quick interview. He was kind enough to agree.
Bea: Hi Robert. Thanks for sitting down with me tonight.
Robert: My pleasure.
Bea: OMG, YOU ARE SITTING ON MY PHONE.
Robert: Sorry. Didn’t see it.
Bea: Get off it, asshole!!!
Robert jumps up and hands me my phone.
Bea: I overreacted. I apologize.
Robert: It’s fine.
Bea: Let’s start over. Forget I called you an asshole. Please.
Robert: Okay…
Bea: I heard you won ‘Male Movie Star of 2019’ at the People’s Choice Awards.
Robert: That’s right.
Bea: Let me see the award.
Robert hands me his People’s Choice Award.
Bea: Wow. Where are you going to put this?
Robert: I’m not sure yet.
My phone rings and it startles me. I drop the award and it breaks in two.
Bea: Oh shit.
I pick up the two pieces and hand them to him.
Bea: Let’s start over…
