Interview: Chris Hemsworth Opens Up About His Wife Elsa and How the Quarantine is Impacting Their Marriage

Chris Hemsworth has a lot to be thankful for, despite everything that’s going on in 2020. He agreed to talk to me about his new movie, his marriage, and his life, but because of the whole social-distancing situation, our conversation happened over phone:

Bea: Hi Chris. Thanks for doing this with me!

Chris: Who is this?

Bea: It’s Beatriz. 

Chris: WHO??

Bea: We have a phone interview right now, at 2:15 pm… Cindy gave me your number.

Chris: It’s 4 in the morning in Australia!!

Bea: Oh, shit.

Chris: WTF, why would you call me at 4??? 

Bea: I’m sorry, I forgot about the different time zones… 

Chris: Who does this??? I was sleeping!!

Bea: Well since you’re up now, do you mind if we—

[Chris hangs up]

[SIX HOURS LATER:]

Bea: Hi Chris. Is this a better time to talk?

Chris: Yes, hi…

Bea: I’m sorry about this morning… I… uh…. Cindy didn’t say you were in Australia.

Chris: Yes, I was surprised to get a call so early but I’m also sorry, I didn’t mean to yell. 

Bea: Don’t worry about it. Some people are obnoxious assholes in the morning, I get it.

[Silence]

Bea: So how are you doing? 

Chris: Good, good. Doing a lot of interviews for my new Netflix movie.

Bea: Right. I’m supposed to ask you about that.

Chris: It’s coming out on April 24th and it’s called ‘Extraction’.

Bea: Uh-huh.

Chris: I play a black market mercenary on a mission in Bangladesh and—

Bea: You know what? Don’t bother… I hate those movies, I won’t watch it. 

[Silence] 

Bea: How are the wife and kids? 

Chris: They’re good. My wife is doing yoga as we speak and the kids are playing somewhere…

Bea: Are you and your wife getting along during the quarantine?

Chris: Oh yea, definitely. If anything, this time of crisis has brought us closer together.

Bea: Don’t be obnoxious, Christopher. 

Chris: I’m being serious. We are more in love than ever… she’s quite amazing.

[Silence]

Bea: She’s right there with you, isn’t she?
