Demi: Hi. How’s it going?
Lisa: I’m a little sleepy and have a bit of pain in my lower back, thank you for asking…. You look happy and radiant though…
Demi: I am!! I just got engaged…!!!
[Demi shows me her hand and I grab it to see the ring up close.]
Lisa: Would you like me to kiss your big diamond?
[Demi takes her hand back.]
Demi: No…
Lisa: Are you sure? Because some cultures believe that when strangers kiss an engagement ring, it brings good luck to the bride…
Demi: … Nah… I’m okay.
Lisa: All right… it’s probably for the best… I think what these cultures thought as having “good luck” also involved being sacrificed to the gods, so…
[Silence]
Lisa: Anyway, who is the lucky guy who gets to share his life with you? Or gal? Or non-binary person? I shouldn’t assume…
Demi: His name is Max Ehrich…
Lisa: I love the name Max.
Demi: Right? It’s a beautiful name for a beautiful man… inside and out.
Lisa: I think I’ll name my next dog Max.

Lisa: Right now I only have three fish. I’ve named them Goldie, Coral, and Batman… But they all look the same so… I never know which one is which.
Demi: Okay…
Lisa: Anyway, how did you know Max is the person you want to spend your entire life listening to his problems, and caring about his pets, and eating 1,378,990 meals with?
Demi: That’s a very specific number of meals… I dunno… I just knew… it’s a feeling I can’t describe…. I knew I loved him the moment I met him…
Lisa: You knew you wanted to marry him the moment you saw him?
Demi: Exactly.
Lisa: Wow…. I wish I could be like that… Most of the time, when I meet someone, I just see the color and type of vibration of their aura.
Demi: [Silence]
Lisa: Does he feel the same way about you?
Demi: I think so. He says he does… I can feel that he does.
Lisa: Then he must…
Demi: [Smiles]
