Mark Wahlberg is livin’ life right now. Not only is he currently enjoying some lake time in Idaho with his family, but he also recently nabbed the title of the third highest-paid actor in 2020 by Forbes magazine. I had a Zoom video call with him to ask how he’s managed to have it all in one lifetime.
Bea: Thanks for doing this with me, Mark.
Mark: No problem.
Bea: I really liked you in that super weird movie you did with …you know…. what’s it called?
Mark: With what…the bear? Ted. Women usually know me from Ted.
Bea: No, no, it’s not Ted. It’s the other really weird movie you did with….—
Mark: Planet of the Apes?
Bea: No no. An even weirder movie … something about a dad and—
Mark: Daddy’s Home?
Bea: You know what, I think I’m thinking of Matt Damon… never mind. All you actors kind of look alike…
Mark: …
Bea: Anyway… according to Forbes, you made a lot of money this year… but not quite as much as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson…. Dwayne also has bigger muscles than you. Thoughts?
Mark: Uh… yeah… he does.
Bea: What a great guy…. I’ve heard he’s also really nice.
Mark: He’s great.
Bea: Tell me something, are you still waking up at 2:30 in the morning to workout?
Mark: No… right now I’m just maintaining until I get the word that we might be going back to work. Then I’ll get super disciplined again….
Bea: At what time are you rolling out of bed then… 3:00 am?
Mark: [chuckles] No. Around 9:00.
Bea: That’s when I wake up!
Mark: Cool…
Bea: On a scale of 1 to 300, how often does your wife feel your abs? Be honest.
Mark: To tell you the truth… she’s not that impressed by my six-pack.
Bea: I believe you… It must be annoying AF to live with someone who wakes up at 2:30 in the morning to workout, eats 10 times a day, and then goes to bed at freaking 7 pm…
Mark: Yeah… she’s not a fan of that.
Bea: At least your body has made you a lot of money… how many movies have you made in your career… 15, 16?
Mark: A lot…. around 60 probably.
Bea: 60 movies and you’ve never won an Oscar?!
Mark: ….
Bea: Well, thanks for doing this with me…. it wasn’t particularly interesting but you sure are nice.
