Lea Michele and her super-wealthy husband Zandy Reich have finally welcomed their first child together, a healthy baby boy. My name is Justin Adler and I had the privilege to have a Zoom call with Lea to learn about the miracle of childbirth. Specifically hers.
Adler: Hello?
[Screen goes black. Lea reappears a few seconds later. Waves hello.]
Adler: Can you hear me??
[Screen goes black again.]
Adler: Cause I definitely can’t hear you.
[Lea reappears after 8 seconds.]
Lea: Hi.
Adler: Oh, finally. Hello!
[Lea appears on screen but there’s no sound.]
Adler: HELLO?
[Sounds gets back on]
Lea: Sorry [laughs]… I don’t know what’s going on with my internet connection….
Adler: I know what’s going on. It’s crap. You need to sue your internet provider… I know a good lawyer and I’ll send you his info as soon as I find it.
Lea: [laughs] Okay…. I don’t think we are interested in suing but we definitely need to get it fixed. Though it might take a little while before we get to it….
Adler: I understand, you’re busy…. I heard you just had a baby so your womanhood probably still hurts and… I’m sure you’re still amazed and confused by the miracle that is childbirth.
Lea: [laughs out loud] Something like that, yes.
Adler: I don’t blame you. I’ve never been through it myself but I’ve heard good things about the process.
Lea: The process?
Adler: Of childbirth.
Lea: Right…yes, it’s a beautiful but very painful experience… but I wouldn’t recommend it to you if you don’t have a uterus.
Adler: So how’s the little one? Does he have a name yet?
Lea: He’s perfect. [smiles] His name is Ever Leo.
Adler: Ever? As in ‘at any time’?… ‘At any time Leo’?
Lea: [laughs] Yes…. We like it. It’s—
Adler: Well it’d be a real disservice if you didn’t like it. It would really be a low blow.
Lea: Of course [laughs], yes, but we really love it. And we think it fits his face and personality.
Adler: He has the personality of an Ever? Already?
Lea: A hundred percent. He is the cutest and he makes me for-’ever’ happy. [laughs at her own joke].
Adler: Are you gonna post a picture of Ever on the gram to properly show him off to society?
Lea: Uhm…. probably not. People are not very kind on social media… I even had to deactivate comments on my posts for a bit because people were writing really nasty things.
Adler: Really? I can’t relate…. my Twitter followers are super chill and very supportive.
Lea: How many followers do you have?
Adler: Quite a lot… almost 200.
Lea: I actually had to deactivate my account… but right now I don’t care about that. At this moment in my life, I feel the most grounded and happiest I ever have.
Adler: That’s the miracle of childbirth…
Lea: [laughs] Exactly.
Adler: Thanks for doing this with me, Lea. I appreciate your—
[Screen goes black.]
[Lea reappears on screen after a few seconds.]
