Emma Stone and her fiance Dave McCary were spotted wearing matching gold bands while out in Los Angeles, making fans speculate about their relationship status (!!). I met up with Emma at a coffee shop where we had an interesting conversation about her and Dave, while properly social distancing, of course.
Lisa: Ok, don’t look…. but that guy [points at him with her finger] has been eyeing me… almost from the moment you sat down.
Emma: [chuckles]
Lisa: Oh oh… He just took a picture with his phone … I wasn’t ready for that… I did not wash my hair this morning…. or yesterday, if I’m being 80% honest.
Emma: [laughs] Welcome to my life…
Lisa: Why’s that? You also haven’t washed your hair in four days? It’s pretty common… it’s—
Emma: I…. no [laughs], what I mean is people take pictures of me without my permission all the time.
Lisa: It’s not pleasant, I’ll tell you that. [while trying to fix her hair]
Emma: No, it is—
Lisa: There’s another woman…. and her blonde guy friend taking pictures of me. Don’t look. The guy is very good-looking.
Emma: [laughs] I think … they might be taking pictures of me.
Lisa: Oh… That makes more sense.
Emma: [laughs]
Lisa: If you want, I can ask the owner to tell them to stop… Not everyone can handle this kind of attention as well as me…
Emma: [chuckles] I’ll be okay… like I said… I’ve had some experience with people taking my picture.
Lisa: It’s completely up to you… Anyway, how are you? How’s Dave?
Emma: Dave is… good [smiles]. He’s busy… getting ready to get back to work on Saturday Night Live. They start filming again in two weeks…
Lisa: Well, two weeks is a long time… especially if, for example, you get something stuck in your eye and you call the ambulance, and they say they’ll be there in two weeks… That actually happened to my friend Lily. But she lives in Burundi. Things work differently there.
Emma: Wow. Really? That’s kind of insane…
Lisa: She likes to exaggerate though so I don’t always listen to her full stories… she might have just said two hours. Who knows.
Emma: [laughs]
Lisa: What about you? Are you working on something right now?
Emma: Well, I’m currently promoting my new movie The Croods: A New Age. It’s coming out in November… I’m pretty excited for people to see it.
Lisa: Is that the movie about a caveman…?
Emma: Yes, exactly.
Lisa: I watched the first one… absolutely hilarious… Maisie Williams really proves herself as a funny lady in that one.
Emma: No. No. That’s a completely different movie.
Lisa: Early Man… that’s the name of the movie! Seriously… so funny. You gotta watch it.
Emma: [politely smiles]
Lisa: I think it’s time we address the elephant in the room… don’t you agree?
Emma: What’s that?
Lisa: You are wearing a wedding ring on your finger… And unless you’re like my cousin Tessa who likes wearing a wedding ring to forget no one loves her in that special way… you got married.
Emma: [laughs]
Lisa: Spill it out, lady.
Emma: I got married.
Lisa: I knew it! …. Does your family know? Does his family know? Of course they know, every family is nosy. They know.
Emma: [laughs] Our families know. Some of them were there when it happened…. But I won’t say anything more about this.
Lisa: Fair enough.
Emma: [laughs]
Lisa: But was Jennifer Lawrence there? What did she wear? Better yet, what did you wear…?
[Emma gives Lisa a dirty look implying she won’t be answering any more questions.]
Lisa: Oh you were serious… okay.
