You all know Courteney Cox: she’s Monica from Friends, best friends with Jennifer Aniston, and a great actress. My name is Justin Adler and I had the pleasure of speaking with Courteney over Zoom about life and her romantic relationship with musician Johnny McDaid.
[Courteney joins the video chat]
[Justin is changing his shirt in the background]
Courteney: Oh my god!!
Justin: Wha… why are you early?!
[Justin finishes getting dressed in a hurry]
Justin: The interview is not supposed to start until 4:00 pm.
Courteney: It’s 3:59 pm.
Justin: Exactly!
Courteney: [laughs]
Justin: Now I have to act all professional knowing that you saw my bare chest.
Courteney: [laughs] I didn’t… I mean, I did, but I’ve erased it from my memory.
Justin: Well… I don’t know if I’m relieved or incredibly insulted that the sight of my thorax made no impact whatsoever.
Courteney: [laughs]
Justin: But enough about me and my… clearly underrated physique. Why don’t you tell me what’s going on with you…?
Courteney: Not a lot, if I’m being honest with you.
Justin: What? That’s terrible!
Courteney: [laughs] It’s not too bad… everyone’s life has slowed down a little bit.
Justin: No, I mean, what am I supposed to write about then?
Courteney: [laughs] Oh…
Justin: Don’t you have that Scream movie coming up?
Courteney: Not right now…. We had to shut down production because of the pandemic.
Justin: Let’s not panic. Anything interesting going on at home?
Courteney: [laughs] Well, I’ve been making headlines lately because me and my boyfriend John have been quarantining apart.
Justin: For how long? If it’s less than two weeks, no one cares.
Courteney: 200 days… Maybe a little more than that.
Justin: Now we’re talking! How does that make you feel? Are you sad? Or do you not need a man by your side to be happy and can’t really tell that he’s not here?
Courteney: [laughs] Well, it’s been hard, of course.
Justin: Right. So what’s going to happen? Are you going to stay together or are you—?
Courteney: Of course! He’s my man…. my person.
Justin: Well, that’s disappointing. For me, I mean…. I’m thrilled for you guys.
Courteney: [laughs] Thanks… I think.
[Silence]
Justin: How about Jennifer Aniston? You’ve been seeing a lot of her lately, right?
Courteney: Mmmm… not really.
Justin: COME ON!!
Courteney: [laughs] I’m sorry.
Justin: Well this has been completely pointless but I still appreciate you taking the time to talk to me, Courteney.
