A lot is happening in the UK right now, so I contacted the Duke of Cambridge to discuss COVID-19, his kids, and some nasty rumors about him and the Duchess buying Instagram followers.
Bea: Thank you for agreeing to meet me, Your Royal Highness.
William: Absolutely.
Bea: Please move your chair back, Your Royal Highness. I don’t want to get infected with COVID-19.
William: [pauses] You’re right. We should all keep a safe distance from each other.
[A member of William’s staff tells me I’m the one who should move my chair back and not the Prince]
Bea: Fine.
William: [Smiles]
Bea: Let’s talk about what the Monarchy is planning on doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
William: Let’s talk about it.
Bea: Will you be taking a more senior role now that the Queen and Prince Charles have to go into isolation because they’re old and they could actually die from this?
William: The Queen will still be the highest authority of the Monarchy but I will help out in whatever capacity I can.
Bea: I was hoping for a yes or no answer. Your Royal Highness.
William: [Silence]
Bea: Let’s get into the decision you made of homeschooling your kids. Is that wise? Your Royal Highness.
William: It’s only for the time being due to the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic.
Bea: I bet they’re driving you nuts.
William: [Silence]
Bea: [Silence]
William: It is challenging having them at home all the time, yes.
Bea: There is a rumor going around that you and Kate are buying Instagram followers so the Sussex’s account doesn’t surpass yours in ‘fans’.
William: I wasn’t aware of that rumor. I don’t pay attention to that.
Bea: I’m not an astrologer, but the odds of both accounts having the same follower count is pretty out there.
William: Astrologers don’t—Let’s move on.
Bea: I’m just saying that not even the Kardashian-Jenner sisters have a follower count that close.
William: Speaking of our social media account, I shared a video to help support individuals suffering hardship as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. That’s what I came here to talk about.
Bea: I didn’t watch it. But good luck with that. Thanks for coming.
William: [Silence]
Bea: It’s better if we don’t touch to say goodbye. Just walk away. Your Royal Highness.
